Bettabuilt provides subcontract carpentry specialising in commercial construction and recladding leaking buildings. Bettabuilt is part of the Brosnan Construction Group of companies. You will work closely with the project team and key project stakeholders managing the carpentry contract from project commencement through to completion. You must have a good understanding of New Zealand construction methods, commercial contract law, drafting subcontract agreements, assessing payment claims and variations, enforcing adherence to contractual terms and risk management. The position may also involve junior and peer mentoring to ensure development and skill transfer within the business.


  • Forensic analysis of contract documents, budgets, estimates and subcontractor quotations
  • Review contract terms and conditions ensuring contractual adherence and protection of risk
  • Negotiating favourable outcomes with clients, main contractors and suppliers
  • Risk management and problem solving
  • Assessing and submitting payment claims and variations
  • Measuring, estimating and valuing variation claims
  • Establishing rates from first principles
  • Compiling and submission of variation claims
  • Monthly cost reporting and accurate cost forecasting
  • Reporting on productivity and identifying inefficiencies
  • Managing relationships with clients, main contractors and key project stakeholders
  • Managing the project team to ensure all financial deliverables and outcomes are achieved


  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
  • CostX (training provided)
  • CAT Projects (training provided)
